What is sincere faith?

We all desire sincere Faith, but what does it mean? The definition of the word “sincere” is “free from pretense or deceit; proceeding from genuine feelings.” A sincere faith comes from a true and genuine heart. It is not only the desire to believe but having an ability to truly believe.

A sincere faith is a conviction

Conviction needs to come from the heart. If we don’t really believe in something then there is no way that anything good will come out of our belief. If we aren’t convinced about it, it will simply be a waste of time as it won’t produce any good fruit in our lives. We have to be certain about our faith in order to get God’s attention and power.

How do we get this conviction? Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God. You want to have a conviction in your heart, then listen to the word of God daily until the revelation of what it means for you personally drop into your heart.

God’s definition of faith

The definition of faith in the Bible is found in Hebrews 11:1,

Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality—faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. (Heb 11:1 AMP)

God’s definition of faith is that it is the assurance of things hoped for, which speaks of certainty. It says that faith is something we should have complete conviction about. If there’s no conviction, there is no sincere faith.

In sincere faith, there’s no doubt, there’s no option for failure. Failure is not even considered because there’s total assurance that those things that we are hoping for are guaranteed. We have the certainty in our hearts that those things are true.

When we have sincere faith, God has no choice but to honor what it is that we are believing in. When there’s no doubt, no fear, or uncertainty; God has to honor that kind of faith with his power and blessings, bringing into existence those things hoped for.

The true faith expression

One of the best ways to express your faith is by acting on what you believe. James 2 tells us that faith without works is dead, so the best way to demonstrate a sincere faith is by acting on it. Let the Holy Spirit show you what He has given you to work with. For example, if you are believing for a new job, look at your current situation, what skills has he given you that you can put into action? Can you draw, sing, edit videos, and write? Whatever it is you can do, start exercising it and He will work with you. This is just an example to show you how easy it is to implement what he’s given you. Sometimes we get too caught up on what we don’t have that we miss out and ignore what He’s already given us.

As you start doing and exercising the gifts and opportunities He’s given you, He’ll open the doors for you and lead you to greater things, but first, we need to show ourselves faithful with what we have.

The ones that pretend

God takes faith as a serious business. We either are with Him or we are not. The Bible says that he will reject the ones that are neither hot nor cold:

So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless) and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust]. Revelation 3:16

He describes these people as “useless” and will vomit them out of His mouth. If we are not serving God wholeheartedly then He has no use for us. In order to be accepted by God, we have to be totally dedicated through total commitment and wholehearted action.

We can’t be half-hearted about what we believe and expect God to do miracles in our lives. Let’s strive to get our hearts clean and right before God so that we can be pure in His presence and receive everything He has for us. He is a good God. Yes, He has high standards, and yes there are consequences for our disobedience, but at the same time, He’s full of mercy and grace, which is made available to us through faith.

A sincere faith is a conviction. It’s not just the desire to believe, but an ability to truly believe. We need this conviction in order for our faith and belief system to produce good fruit in our lives and run the race of faith with confidence. The only way we can get this conviction is by hearing and listening to what God has given us through reading His word daily until it drips into your heart as a revelation; plus acting on whatever He has given you that will prove faithful with what you have now before moving onto greater things. If you want to be a real warrior for God, strive towards getting your life right before Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you, and He will!
